Ab00524-10.6 Anti-Basigin [Ab-1]
Description: Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Basigin. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma Ab-1. This is a Fab fragment with a his-tag.
Clone Number: Ab-1
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: P35613
Alternative Name(s) of Target: BSG; CD147; Cluster of differentiation 147; Extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer; EMMPRIN; 5F7; Collagenase stimulatory factor; Leukocyte activation antigen M6; Tumor cell-derived collagenase stimulatory factor; TCSF
Published Application(s): ELISA; Block
Published Species Reactivity: Human
Immunogen: Recombinant ectodomains of human basigin.
Specificity: The antibody binds to basigin with an affinity (Kd) of 4 nM reported for the original antibody.
Application Notes: The antibody binds specifically to basigin, a protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily which is expressed on the surface of erythrocyte and acts as a receptor for the human malaria parasite P. falciparum. The recombinant chimeric monoclonal antibody Ab-1 acts by blocking the interaction between basigin and PfRH5, a ligand necessary for the P. falciparum erythrocyte invasion, thereby inhibiting the development of malaria.
Antibody First Published in:
Zenonos ZA, Dummler SK, Müller-Sienerth N, Chen J, Preiser PR, Rayner JC, Wright GJ. Basigin is a druggable target for host-oriented antimalarial interventions. J Exp Med. 2015 Jul 27;212(8):1145-51. PMID:26195724 Note on publication: Describes the development of the recombinant chimeric antibody Ab-1 directed against basigin, an erythrocyte receptor involved in parasite invasion.
Concentration: See vial label.
This chimeric human antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
Species and Isotype: Human Fab fragment, His-Tagged, kappaClone Number: Ab-1
