Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Transferrin. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma TW4.20.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: Q06AH7
Alternative Name(s) of Target: Serotransferrin
Immunogen: Iron-free purified human transferrin.
Specificity: Binds to the N-terminal domain of human transferrin.
Application Notes: This antibody recognises transferrin a protein which can bind two Fe3+ ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. It is responsible for the transport of iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. Serum transferrin may also have a further role in stimulating cell proliferation. This antibody can displace transferrin from the transferrin receptor.
Antibody first published in:

Immunofluorescence staining of fixed HepG2 cells with anti-Serotransferrin antibody TW4.20 (Ab00669) Immunofluorescence analysis of paraformaldehyde fixed HpeG2 cells on Shi-fix™ coverslips, permeabilized with 0.15% Triton and stained with the chimeric rabbit IgG version of TW4.20 (Ab00669-23.0) at 10 µg/ml for 1h followed by Alexa Fluor® 488 secondary antibody (1 µg/ml), showing diffuse cytoplasmic staining, likely from protein in trafficking vesicles. The nuclear stain is DAPI (blue). Panels show from left-right, top-bottom Ab00669-23.0, DAPI, merged channels and an isotype control. The isotype control was stained with an anti-Fluorescein antibody (Ab102-23.0) followed by Alexa Fluor® 488 secondary antibody.
