Recombinant monoclonal antibody to HBeAg. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma E6.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: N/A
Alternative Name(s) of Target: HBV E-antigen; Hepatitis B Envelope Antigen
Immunogen: This antibody was produced by immunizing BALB/c and SJL/Olac mice with HBeAg derived by denaturing human liver HBcAg. The subsequent production of the Fab is not detailled.
Specificity: This antibody defines the e-antigen determinant HBe-β, and is specific for unassembled dimers. Two copies of the antibody are able to bind captured HBeAg dimers, indicating two accessible epitopes per dimer. E6 binding is inhibited by other members of the e-β-reactive group of Mabs, namely e4, e8 and e9.
Application Notes: This Fab forms a stable complex with the recombinantly-expressed HBeAg dimer. Consequently, this antibody can be used to facilitate the crystallization of the complex, and the establishment of its structure (DiMattia, 2013).

Note on publication:
Ferns et al (1984) descibes the original production of murine e6, along with a panel of other anti-HBeAg Mabs, for use in the characterisation of HBeAg.
