High-Throughput Recombinant Antibody Production

Our FleXpress™ high-throughput recombinant antibody production service offers clients the flexibility to rapidly express a large number of IgG antibodies at pilot scale using Absolute Antibody’s proven recombinant antibody manufacturing technology. The service utilizes our HEXpress™ antibody expression platform, a serum-free, mammalian transient expression system, to produce recombinant antibodies with high purity and low endotoxin levels.

The FleXpress™ line can produce hundreds of different recombinant antibodies per week, allowing customers to quickly and cost-effectively test recombinant versions of many different antibodies. Purification is by a fully automated, custom-built system capable of purifying up to 24 antibodies in approximately 12 hours. This service is particularly useful for the following applications:

• Multi-hybridoma conversion: reagent companies with a monoclonal antibody portfolio can test moving their collection from hybridomas to recombinant antibody production to take advantage of the many benefits of recombinant expression, including superior batch-to-batch reproducibility, antibody engineering options, and long-term supply. • Early-stage biopharmaceutical R&D: therapeutic antibody developers can quickly screen or conduct pilot studies on a group of therapeutic antibody candidates by taking advantage of the FleXpress™ platform’s affordable high-throughput protein production capabilities.

Absolute Antibody’s custom antibody purification robots enable high-throughput recombinant antibody production.

All antibody production occurs in our ISO-certified antibody manufacturing facility, which also houses two other production lines that enable scaling-up to multi-gram quantities in a matter of weeks. We have used our protein production platform to produce thousands of different recombinant antibodies, making 1,000 grams of protein in total.

In addition, we have used our protein manufacturing platform to build a unique reagents catalog consisting of more than 15,000 recombinant antibodies, all benefitting from antibody engineering technology. For example, check out one catalog clone (anti-EGFR, or Cetuximab) available in more than 30 different off-the-shelf formats.
