Recombinant monoclonal antibody to CD98. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma RL388.

Immunogen: This antibody was raised by immunising rats with an IL 2-producing subline of the mouse T lymphoma EL4.
Specificity: This antibody recognises murine CD98, a heterodimeric cell surface glycoprotein.
Application Notes: This antibody has been used in immunoprecipitation analysis to characterise the CD98 antigen (Luscher et al, 1985) and flow cytometric analysis of CD98 expression by γδ T cells (Cao et al, 2016). This antibody has been shown to stimulate IL-2 secretion by a T cell lymphoma EL4 subline (EL4-6.1) in the presence of IL-1 (MacDonald et al, 1985). This antibody did not exert stimulatory effects on the parental EL4 line nor a series of ovalbumin-specific T-T hybrids (MacDonald et al, 1985).

Western Blot using anti-CD98 antibody RL388 (Ab01268). Mouse fetal liver lysate (35µg protein in RIPA buffer) was resolved on an SDS PAGE gel and blots probed with the chimeric rabbit IgG version of RL388 (Ab01268-23.0) at 0.05 µg/ml before detection using an anti-rabbit secondary antibody. A primary incubation of 1h was used and protein was detected by chemiluminescence.
Immunofluorescence staining of mouse splenocytes using anti-CD98 antibody (Ab01268) RL388. Immunofluorescence analysis of paraformaldehyde fixed mouse splenocytes immobilized on Shi-fix™ cover-slips and stained with the chimeric rabbit IgG version of RL388 (Ab01268-23.0) at 10 µg/ml followed by Alexa Fluor® 488 secondary antibody (2 µg/ml), showing membrane staining. The nuclear stain is DAPI (blue). Panels show from left-right, top-bottom Ab01268-23.0, DAPI, merged channels and an isotype control. The isotype control was stained with anti-Fluorescein antibody (Ab00102-23.0) followed by Alexa Fluor® 488 secondary antibody.
