Recombinant monoclonal antibody to tau. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma Tau-5.

Immunogen: Tau protein.
Specificity: This antibody binds to sequence 210-241 of tau protein.
Application Notes: This antibody binds to tau in a phosphorylation independent manner. Tau proteins are abundant in the central nervous system and stabilize micrtubules. Immuno-staining can be affected by different fixation methods (see LoPresti et al. 1995).

Immunofluorescence staining of fixed U251 cells with anti-tau antibody Tau-5 (Ab00639) Immunofluorescence analysis of paraformaldehyde fixed U251 cells permeabilized with 0.15% Triton and stained with the chimeric mouse IgG1 version of Tau-5 (Ab0639-1.1) at 10 µg/ml for 1h followed by Alexa Fluor® 488 secondary antibody (2 µg/ml), showing cytoplasmic staining. The nuclear stain is DAPI (blue). Panels show from left-right, top-bottom Ab00639-1.1, DAPI, merged channels and an isotype control. The isotype control was stained with an anti-unknown specificity antibody (Ab178-1.1) followed by Alexa Fluor® 488 secondary antibody.
