Immunogen: The original antibody was isolated from a VHH library generated by immunization of an alpaca with whole glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cells.

Specificity: This antibody binds human THO complex subunit 4 (ALYREF). This protein is an export adapter involved in nuclear export of spliced and unspliced mRNA. Antibodies against ALYREF/THOC4 are found in sera of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Application Notes: This antibody was used for identification of ALYREF protein in cytosolic and membrane protein fractions of glioblastoma (GBM) tissues using western blotting. It was reported that ALYREF expression was high in GBM compared to reference samples. It was reported that CRMP1 was a good marker to distinguish glioma tissues from reference tissues. ELISA was used for the screening of the nanobody library and identification of specific binders that showed specificity for GBM proteins (PMID: 28498803).
