Recombinant monoclonal antibody to M protein, serotype 5. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma 6.5.1/113.2.1.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: P02977
Alternative Name(s) of Target: Streptococcal M-protein; Actin; Keratin; DNA; Vimentin
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with streptococcal M type 5 membranes followed by a second, boosting dose of Lysin M5.
Specificity: This antibody reacts with α-helical molecules and the carbohydrate N-acetyl-b-D-glucosamine (GlcNac). Specifically, it binds streptococcal M-protein, actin, keratin, DNA, and vimentin.
Application Notes: This antibody binds myosin at a low relative avidity, as determined in a competitive ELISA (Mertens et al., 2000; PMID: 11282394).
Antibody first published in:
Cunningham et al. Human and murine antibodies cross-reactive with streptococcal M protein and myosin recognize the sequence GLN-LYS-SER-LYS-GLN in M protein J Immunol. 1989 Oct 15;143(8):2677-83 PMID:2677144
Note on publication:
The original publication describes the use of overlapping synthetic peptides to map the myosin cross-reactive epitopes of streptococcal M protein recognized by antibodies from acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease sera.
