Recombinant monoclonal antibody to MAdCAM-1. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma MECA-89.
Alternative Name(s) of Target: ATCC HB-292; Addressin; mucosal vascular addressin cell adhesion molecule 1
Immunogen: Endothelial cells isolated from BALB/c mouse mesenteric and peripheral lymph nodes.
Specificity: The antibody is specific for mouse MAdCAM-1. The antibody recognizes the second immunoglobulin domain, interfering with L-selectin interactions of MAdCAM-1. The mucosal lymphocyte homing receptor MAdCAM-1 is expressed in the high endothelial venules of the mesenteric lymph nodes (MLN) and Peyer's patches (PP) and in the flat epithelium of the lamina propria (LP).
Application Notes: The antibody bound to the second domain of MAdCAM-1 and did not block MAdCAM-1-dependent binding in vitro (Streeter et al., 1988; PMID:3340147). The antibody was used for immunohistochemical analysis of healthy AKR control mice and it showed faint basal expression of MAdCAM-1 in the terminal ileum (Bachmann et al. 2006). The antibody blocked interactions with L-selectin in vivo (Bargatze et al., 1995; PMID: 7542550).
