Recombinant monoclonal antibody to TGFalpha. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma tAb2.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: P01135
Alternative Name(s) of Target: TGFA, Transforming growth factor A
Immunogen: Biologically active hemocyanin-coupled human TGFalpha.
Specificity: tAb2 binds the N-terminal sequence of transforming growth factor alpha, VVSHFND (with residues 4 to 7 being the minimal binding epitope).
Application Notes: Human transforming growth factora (TGFa) consists of 50 amino acid residues with three disulphide bridges. It belongs to the family of epidermal growth factor related peptides and binds to EGFreceptor. It is involved in cell proliferation in healthy cells and is found in various cancer cells. Transfection of Fibroblasts with the TGFa gene induces tumor formation.

Flow-cytometry using the anti-TGF-alpha antibody tAb2 (Ab00614) Human peripheral blood leukocytes were fixed using 2% PFA, permeabilised using 0.5% Triton and stained with unimmunized rabbit IgG antibody (MOPC-21; isotype control, black line) or the rabbit IgG-chimeric version of tAb2 (Ab00614-23.0, blue line) at a dilution of 1:100 for 1h at RT. After washing, bound antibody was detected using a goat anti-rabbit IgG AlexaFluor® 488 antibody at a dilution of 1:1000 and cells analyzed using a FACSCanto flow-cytometer.
