Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Blue tongue virus. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the phage display antibody H2.
Alternative Name(s) of Target: BTV; complete virus; whole cells
Immunogen: This antibody was generated by panning against purified virus using a antibody library from five different 5-week old white leghorn hens.
Specificity: This antibody is specific for the Blue tongue virus. It is the pathogen that causes blue tongue disease in ruminants.
Application Notes: To show that this antibody can detect virus particles, a sandwich ELISA was performed on blue tong virus, it showed a positive result (van Wyngaardt et al, 2004; pmid: 15059288). In a different study the scFv version of this antibody was omitted from an ELISA due to inconsistent results or low ELISA signal (Rakabe et al, 2011)

A large library of recombinant filamentous bacteriophages displaying single chain antibody fragments derived from combinatorial pairings of chicken variable heavy and light chains was constructed. Synthetically randomised complementarity determining regions are included in some of the heavy chains. Single chain antibody fragments that recognise haptens, proteins and virus particles were selected from this repertoire.
