Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Butyrylcholinesterase. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma C191.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: P06276
Alternative Name(s) of Target: Cholinesterase; Acylcholine acylhydrolase; Butyrylcholine esterase; Choline esterase II; Pseudocholinesterase; BChE
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated by injecting mice with denatured, recombinant human butyrylcholinesterase expressed in Chinese hamster ovary cells. The recombinant butyrylcholinesterase had been denatured and reduced by boiling in 1% sodium dodecyl sulfate containing 5% mercaptoethanol before it was injected into mice.
Specificity: The antibody selectively captures completely denatured human butyrylcholinesterase. The antibody does not bind native butyrylcholinesterase. The antibody does not recognise mouse butyrylcholinesterase.
Application Notes: The authors developed an antibody that can be used for immunopurifying heat-inactivated, denatured human butyrylcholinesterase. The specificity of the antibody (IgG1 format) for denatured butyrylcholinesterase was confirmed by ELISA analysis. The immobilized antibody was able to selectively extracts denatured butyrylcholinesterase from plasma. The selective removal of completely denatured butyrylcholinesterase by the immobilized antibody was visualized on Western blots. Mass spectrometry confirmed the finding from Western blots that the antibody immunoputifies butyrylcholinesterase from heat-inactivated plasma (Peng et al., 2016; PMID: 28058292).

The paper describes the generation and characterization of the antibody. The antibody was used to immunopurify denatured butyrylcholinesterase.
