Immunogen: This antibody was raised by immunising mice with foetal liver cells.
Specificity: This antibody recognizes human transferrin receptor (CD71), which is a glycoprotein composed of disulfide-linked polypeptide chains. It is widely distributed on the cell surface of actively growing human cells. It is involved in the transport of iron and plays a role in the development of erythrocytes' and cell proliferation.
Application Notes: This antibody is extensively expressed on the surface of growing human cells and thus may be used as a marker of proliferation.

Flow cytometry using the Anti-CD71 antibody Q1/71 (Ab01409). Paraformaldehyde fixed K562 cells were stained with anti-unknown specificity antibody (Ab00178-1.1; isotype control, black line) or the mouse IgG1 version of Q1/71 (Ab01409-1.1, blue line) at a dilution of 1:100 for 1h at RT. After washing, the bound antibody was detected using a goat anti-mouse IgG AlexaFluor® 488 antibody at a dilution of 1:1000 and cells analyzed using a FACSCanto flow-cytometer.
