Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Ciguatoxin CTX3C. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma 10C9.
Alternative Name(s) of Target: CTX; CTX3C; 51-hydroxy-CTX3C
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with a synthetic hapten comprising ABCDE ring portion conjugated with KLH.
Specificity: This antibody specifically recognizes the ABCDE ring portion of ciguatoxin CTX3C and 51-OH-CTX3C. This antibody does not cross react with other toxins like brevetoxin A (BTX-A), brevetoxin B (BTX-B), okadaic acid (OA), and maitotoxin (MTX). Ciguatoxins are the major causative toxins of ciguatera seafood poisoning (CFP). Ciguatera is a foodborne illness caused by eating reef fish whose flesh is contaminated with ciguatoxins.
Application Notes: This antibody can be used to detect ciguatoxins in a sample using ELISA. It was also used in the development of a sandwich ELISA to detect CTX3C at the ppb level. Dissociation constant of this antibody for ciguatoxin CTX3C was Kd = 2.8 nM (PMID: 12812503). This antibody was also used in combination with another antibody 3D11 for effective neutralization of ciguatoxins in vitro and in vivo (PMID: 19254735).

Note on publication:
Monoclonal antibodies against both ends of ciguatoxins were generated for the development of sandwich immunoassay for detection of ciguatoxin CTX3C.
