Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma C3B6.
Alternative Name(s) of Target: CPD
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated by hyperimmunizing mice with UV irradiated polydeoxynucleotides.
Specificity: This antibody recognizes UV-irradiated polynucleotides and oligonucleotides that contain the (6–4)-dipyrimidine photoproduct.
Application Notes: This antibody is recommended for detection of DNA damage caused by UV irradiation. This antibody is also known as αUVssDNA-1. Recombinant C3B6 scFv binds UV-poly(dT) in an ELISA with no evidence of cross-reactivity with unirradiated polythymidylic acid [poly(dT)](PMID: 10710441).
Antibody first published in:
Strickland et al. Characterisation of two monoclonal antibodies specific for dimerised and non-dimerised adjacent thymidines in single stranded DNA. Photochem Photobiol. (1981); 34(5):595-601. PMID:7301937
Note on publication:
Describes the generation of of two antibodies, one recognizing the thymidine dimers and other that recognizes the unirradiated or UV-irradiated tracts of thymidine.
