Recombinant monoclonal antibody to HIV-1 GP120. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma YZ18.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: P04578
Alternative Name(s) of Target: Glycoprotein 120; SU; surface protein gp120; env polyprotein; envelope glycoprotein gp16
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with an electrophilic HIV-1 gp120 covalently reactive analog (E-gp120).
Specificity: This antibody binds irreversibly with GP120 of the HIV-1 virus. This antibody shows specific binary reactivity for peptides containing amino acid residues 292–306 and 421– 433 of the gp120 protein.
Application Notes: This antibody is capable of irreversibly binding both HIV-1 GP120 and its covalently reactive analogue in an ELISA. It is reported that this antibody is capable of slowly cleaving biotinylated gp120 (Lys residues are labelled with biotin) (PMID: 12665517). This antibody neutralized the infection of peripheral blood mononuclear cells by a primary HIV-1 isolate belonging to clade C (strain ZA009) (PMID: 16838382).

Note on publication:
Describes the generation of HIV-1 GP120 cleaving antibodies by using its covalently reactive analogue for immunizations.
