Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Herpes simplex virus. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the phage display antibody H37.
Alternative Name(s) of Target: HSV
Immunogen: The Fab fragment was selected from a human combinatorial antibody library constructed in a phage-display vector by a panning procedure against an HSV lysate.
Specificity: The antibody binds to herpes simplex virus (HSV) antigens. The antibody is reactive with HSV-1 and HSV-2.
Application Notes: The specificity of the original format of the antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis. The Fab was able to specifically recognize Vero cells infected with HSV in indirect immunofluorescence (IF) assays; in particular, it recognized cells infected by either HSV type 1 (HSV-1) or HSV-2. This Fab was tested in indirect IF assays against Vero cells infected with two reference HSV strains and against Vero and HEp-2 cells infected by 72 HSV-1 and 62 HSV-2 clinical isolates. The Fab gave a strong positive fluorescent signal with the F (HSV-1) and G (HSV-2) reference strains and with all the HSV-1 and HSV-2 clinical isolates tested. The detection sensitivity with the Fab in indirect IF assays was higher overall than that provided by the type-specific murine monoclonal antibodies (Cattani et al., 1997; PMID:9163470).
