Recombinant monoclonal antibody to InlB protein. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma 3.3.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: P0DQD3
Alternative Name(s) of Target: Internalin B; InlB; Invasion protein InlB
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with the protein InlB.
Specificity: The antibody recognized epitopes within the leucine-rich repeat (LRR) region (amino acids 73-248) and/ or the inter-repeat (IR) region(amino acids 249-342). It recognizes either an epitope overlapping the LRR and IR regions, or a conformational epitope not recognized by the antibody when one of the two regions is absent.
Application Notes: This antibody binds to InIB, a surface protein that mediates entry of Listeria monocytogenes into a wide variety of cell types. Binding affinity of the antibody was determined by ELISA and western blotting was used to confirm the specificity of the antibody. In particular, the antibody recognizes the region LRR and IR of INIB, indicating these regions of the protein are responsible for the entry into mammalian cells.
Antibody first published in:
Braun et al. The 213-amino-acid leucine-rich repeat region of the listeria monocytogenes InlB protein is sufficient for entry into mammalian cells, stimulation of PI 3-kinase and membrane ruffling. Mol Microbiol. 1999 Oct;34(1):10-23. PMID:10540282
Note on publication:
The authors identifies the region of InlB responsible for entry of the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes into a wide variety of cell types. This region is also responsible for the stimulation of signal transduction events. Eight monoclonal antibodies directed against InlB were raised and, of those, five inhibited bacterial entry.
