Immunogen: This antibody was raised by panning against a library that has earlier been selected twice for activity against testosterone-biotin(testosterone3-(5-(6-(5-(biotin)pentanamido)hexanamido)pentylcarbamoyl) propanoate) coupled to avidin-coated magnetic beads.
Specificity: The antibody is specific for the testosterone molecule. Testosterone is the primary sex hormone and anabolic steroid in males.
Application Notes: The binding characteristics of the original version of this antibody (human scFv) to testosterone and biotinylated testosterone were characterized via competitive ELISA. It exhibited an IC50 value of 2 and 4 nM for testosterone and biotinylated testosterone, respectively (Persson et al., 2008; PMID: 18480091).
