Recombinant monoclonal antibody to saxiton. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma 5F7.
Alternative Name(s) of Target: STX; [(3aS,4R,10aS)-10,10-dihydroxy-2,6-diiminooctahydro-1H,8H-pyrrolo[1,2-c]purin-4-yl]methyl carbamate
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with STX-glucose oxidase immunogen.
Specificity: The antibody is specific for STX. It cross reacts with dc-STX. STX is a potent neurotoxin and the best-known paralytic shellfish toxin. Ingestion of saxitoxin by humans, usually by consumption of shellfish contaminated by toxic algal blooms, is responsible for the illness known as paralytic shellfish poisoning.
Application Notes: The binding affinity of the original format of the antibody to STX was measured by surface plasmon resonance (Kd= 2.6 nM). Further, the antibody was used for developing an anti-STX xMAP assay (Shriver-Lake et al., 2017; PMID: 27879646).
