Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Carbofuran. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma 5D3.
Alternative Name(s) of Target: C12H15NO3; CHEBI:34611; carbamate insecticide; carbamate pesticide
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with hapten-carrier (BFNB-bovine serum albumin, BFNB-BSA) conjugates. BFNB stands for 4-[[(2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7-benzofuranyloxy) carbonyl]-amino]-butanoic acid.
Specificity: This antibody binds carbofuran, which is a carbamate pesticide used to control insects on a wide variety of field crops, including potatoes, corn and soybeans. It is a synthetic insecticide which is absorbed by the plants such that insecticidal concentration can be attained.
Application Notes: The binding affinity and the specificity of this antibody were characterized by ELISA or indirect competitive ELISA (Yang et al., 2007). This antibody was also used to develop a rapid, specific and sensitive ELISA method to determine residues of the pesticide carbofuran in a variety of matrices (PMID: 18463589).
