Recombinant monoclonal antibody to FAK. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma 5B9.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: Q04205
Alternative Name(s) of Target: tensin; FAK; p210
Immunogen: The mouse version of this antibody was generated by immunizing mice with a mixture of affinity-purified tyrosine phosphoproteins from chick embryo fibroblasts expressing activated pp60src, and recognizes FAK.
Specificity: This antibody is specific for chicken tensin. Tensin may be involved in cell migration, fibrillar adhesion formation, cartilage development and in linking signal transduction pathways to the cytoskeleton.
Application Notes: To study bacterial invasion. Lysates from 5637 cells infected with a bacterial suspension were immunoblotted using the mouse version of this antibody (Martinez et al, 2000; pmid:10856226). To study fibronectin matrix assembly. Western blot and immunoprecipitation was preformed on collagen-adherent FN-null cell monolayers. Furthermore FN-null MEFs were used for immunofluorescence (Lefort et al, 2011; pmid:21084302). Lysates from CE cells were both immunoprecipitated and blotted using the mouse version of this antibody. This was done to determine the wether CAKβ shares properties with pp125FAK (Schaller and Sasaki, 1997; pmid:9312150).
Antibody first published in:

Note on publication:
pp125(FAK) and CAKbeta/Pyk2/CadTK/RAFTK are related protein-tyrosine kinases. It is therefore of interest whether CAKbeta shares some of the properties of pp125(FAK). Using recombinant glutathione S-transferase fusion proteins, it is shown that the C-terminal domains of both proteins bind paxillin in vitro.
