Recombinant monoclonal antibody to HPr. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the hybridoma JEL42.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: P0AA04
Alternative Name(s) of Target: Histidine-containing phosphocarrier protein; ptsH; hpr; Phosphocarrier protein HPr; Histidine-containing protein
Specificity: This antibody binds the histidine containing phosphocarrier protein of Escherichia coli. It is an 85 amino acid phosphocarrier protein which is component of phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar phosphotransferase system (sugar PTS). This major carbohydrate active-transport system catalyzes the phosphorylation of incoming sugar substrates concomitantly with their translocation across the cell membrane.
Application Notes: This antibody can detect mutant histidine binding protein in crude extracts. It was also capable of inhibiting PTS sugar phosphorylation assays, but the antibody-HPr complex could still be phosphorylated by enzyme I (PMID: 2438269)
