Immunogen: The original antibody was isolated from a non-immune semisynthetic llama library constructed from blood samples (6 ml) collected from the left jugular vein of three research naïve mature llamas.
Specificity: This antibody binds enterotoxin B of Staphylococcus aureus (SEB).
Application Notes: The binding specificity of this antibody towards staphylococcal enterotoxin B was checked using ELISA. This antibody can also be used as a detection antibody for SEB in a sandwich ELISA. The original VHH antibody can detect SEB concentrations down to 0.05 ng/ml and 0.5 ng/ml in a sample (PMID:17165813).

A semisynthetic llama library was constructed from non-immune llamas and binders specific for live vaccinia virus (a smallpox virus surrogate), hen egg lysozyme, cholera toxin, ricin, and staphylococcal enterotoxin B were selected.
