Recombinant monoclonal antibody to Vimentin. Manufactured using AbAb’s Recombinant Platform with variable regions (i.e. specificity) from the alpaca peripheral blood lymphocytes 1433.
UniProt Accession Number of Target Protein: P08670
Alternative Name(s) of Target: VIM
Immunogen: The original antibody was generated from an immunized alpaca.
Specificity: This antibody binds the vimentin intermediate filament. Vimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells, especially mesenchymal cells. Vimentin is attached to the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, either laterally or terminally.
Application Notes: This chimeric engineered antibody is generated by fusing the original alpaca derived nanobody to mouse IgG1 and rabbit Fc domains to extend the research application of the original. This antibody binds vimentin present on canine MDCK cells, rodent BHK cells and on human A549 cells upon stimulation with TGFβ. This antibody can be used for immunofluorescent staining of tissues expressing vimentin. It can also be conjugated with fluorophores for direct detection. It can also be immobilized on protein A, beads, resins and plates. The original alpaca VHH antibody is available from ChromoTek.
